Guided tour of the Brasserie de Silly

A heritage of flavours…

Brewing beer is a traditional skill that has been passed down through 6 generations at the Silly brewery, since 1850.

The Silly brewery is located just 40 km south-west of Brussels, in the agricultural heart of Hainaut. It’s a region that doesn’t attract many tourists, but is well worth exploring.

For walkers who avoid the crowds and like to get off the beaten track, it’s possible to combine a day’s discovery of a beautiful region with a visit to the Silly craft brewery.

Silly, a village of 8,000 inhabitants situated in the triangle between Ath, Enghien and Soignies, is crossed by the river Sylle, which gives it its name. It was here in 1850 that Marcelin Hypolite Mynbrughen founded the Silly brewery, initially known as Cense de la Tour. In 1900, Marcelin’s son Adelin won a silver medal at the ParisUniversal Exhibition.
