J'ai beaucoup apprécié ce musée qui montre, une fois de plus, combien ceux qui nous ont précédés ont trimé pour assurer leur subsistance.
Almost 200 years ago, on the banks of the Ourthe River, there was a vast meadow called Long-Dos. It would later give its name to the neighbourhood (Longdoz). People there made a living from farming, and numerous mills were built on the rivers and streams that crossed it.
Between 1840 and 1850, the neighbourhood changed. With the industrial revolution in Liège, the advent of the railroad, and the creation of rue Grétry, many factories settled and brought prosperity to the area.
First, set off on an adventure in Longdoz and discover how the area has evolved. Then, step inside the Maison de la Métallurgie et de l’Industrie de Liège (museum) and let yourself be transported to the heart of Liège’s industrial heritage!
