Visit the Mundaneum

The paper Google

A unique venue, the Mundaneum, which was awarded the European Heritage Label in 2016, highlights the heritage and ideas of its founders, Henri La Fontaine and Paul Otlet.

The building in Montpellier, a pearl of Art Deco architecture, is home to thisUNESCO-recognised heritage site (2013), and is now a modular facility that reflects its activities: a space for temporary exhibitions, conferences, events for associations and companies, not forgetting its archive centre!

The Mundaneum’s archive centre holds some 6 km of documents. In addition to the personal papers of the founders, Paul Otlet and Henri La Fontaine, and the collections of newspapers, posters, postcards, glass plates and small documents assembled by them or their successors, the Mundaneum holds archives relating to three main themes: pacifism, anarchism and feminism.

The Mundaneum aims to safeguard and conserve these collections, as well as promoting them through exhibitions, publications and events such as symposia and conferences. Find out more about current exhibitions at http://www.mundaneum.org.
