The Bastogne War Museum focuses on the Battle of the Bulge. Visitors are immersed in an immersive experience thanks to three “scénovisions”, real multi-sensory displays.
Through sets, eyewitness accounts, multimedia installations and films, the tour appeals not only to the intellect but also to the emotions, making visitors feel that this is a story that concerns them personally.
Throughout your visit, 4 characters will guide you (via our audio guides): an American corporal from the 101st Airborne, a German lieutenant from the 26th Volksgrenardier Division, a young teacher from Bastogne school and a 13-year-old pupil from Bastogne.
There are plenty of interactive activities to keep young and old alike on their toes.
The Battle of the Bulge Monument, just a stone’s throw away, is an important place of remembrance, with a crypt decorated by Fernand Léger, one of the most important French painters of the 20th century.
And to round off your day, a visit to the Bois Jacques battlefield combines your visit with a unique outdoor experience thanks to the exceptional natural setting and the interactive mobile application. A real step back in time in the midst of the Battle of the Bulge! (as seen in the series “Frères d’Armes”)
And, for the first time, you can visit the “Bastogne War Rooms” in General MC Auliffe’s authentic cellar. There are 4 unique scenographic displays recounting the decisions taken by the General to liberate Bastogne in the labyrinth of the barracks cellars, where his reply “Nuts!” still echoes…
On-site facilities and access for all (including PRM), as well as a cafeteria and terrace.
The Bastogne War Museum is accessible by bus (TEC) line 6 – terminus.
