Whether you’re with the family, on your own or with friends, there’s something for all ages and tastes. Take a unique tour of a former 19th-century tobacco warehouse and discover the portrait of the famous privateer Jean Bart, some exceptional figureheads and the epic story of Icelandic fishing. You’ll love admiring the details of the many ship models, contemplating the picturesque dioramas and surprising panorama paintings, or strolling through the vast technical gallery dedicated to the handling trades, under the gaze of the giant Roge the docker!
Moored opposite the museum, the spectacular three-masted schooner Duchesse Anne, the largest visitable sailing ship in France, and the fireboat Sandettié, both listed historic monuments, invite you to extend the adventure by exploring the great era of sailing, the unusual world of signalling at sea and the history of inland waterway transport.
The barge Guilde, the launch Pilotine 1 and the tug Entreprenant will also take you back in time to the history of inland waterway transport, maritime pilotage and port towing.
Fancy a bit of height? At 60 metres high, the Risban lighthouse, built in 1842, is an exceptional example of maritime heritage and the history of navigation. Located close to the town centre, the lighthouse dominates the port and offers an uninterrupted view of the sea, the town and the Flanders hinterland.
